Revisiting the Navigation
Monday 15th April 2019
Throughout the creation of the app I wasn’t totally satisfied with the bottom navigation bar. The main issue I wanted to address was the lack of the chat button on some pages but present in others.
Below is an example where the page contains the chat function in the top right. However in the inner charity pages, the message icon is swapped for the favourite icon.
The favourite and the chat icon aren’t in the same consistent place. The favourite button shouldn’t be available for all pages but the chat icon definatly should be.
I decided to make the bottom menu five items and add in the chat button for a permanent place. Interacting with the charities and their users is key for Go Give to create a community so it should have its own permanent place.
This simple change has made it easy for users to find the main pages of the app easily from the bottom menu.
